ICAMCyL attended the 1st Spanish meeting on Metallic Alloys for Nuclear Applications
Our day by day / 11-04-2019Last February we attended the first meeting of Spanish experts in the field of modeling, characterization and development of metal alloys for nuclear applications. The main objective of this meeting was for the different research groups in the country to get in touch, know the lines of research of other groups, the capacities of the different centres and establish collaborations and coordinate efforts.
In the short term, all institutions aim to work together on joint proposals in the European framework of the Joint Programme on Nuclear Materials (JPNM) of the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA). The possibility of creating a research network in this area in the near future was also raised at the meeting. Attendees to this event, organised by CIEMAT, included IMDEA Materiales, CEIT-IK4, CENIM, the National Accelerator Centre of the University of Sevilla and the Universities of Oviedo, Alicante, the Autonomous University of Madrid, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and the Polytechnic University of Madrid.
The meeting demonstrated the enormous potential of the country in the fields of simulation, characterization, development and design of advanced materials, both for nuclear applications and resilience under extreme conditions.
Our colleagues Nuno and Sergio shared the presentation 'Advances in Multiscale Modelling approaches of liquid metals and alloys for advanced nuclear applications', in which they showed ICAMCyL's capabilities in this field and our participation in different European projects related to multiscale modeling of magnetic materials, metallic liquids and other advanced materials.
